Tacofest now accepting applications for Taco Vendors
We need ten. Ten of Waterloo Region’s best Taco creators. Ten vendors who will make Waterloo Region’s first Tacofest amazing.
Tacofest will take place July 5th 2013, at THEMUSEUM, downtown Kitchener, from 6pm – midnight. We need a well-rounded variety of restaurants that will attract people from across the Region to attend. Your participation will provide you with access to between 5-600 potential new customers as they receive the opportunity to try your food. It’s free to participate; we only ask you donate your time and product in support of Meals on Wheels.
We will do our best to match vendors with a local food producer to highlight the skill of the chef, the uniqueness of the restaurant and the quality of the local produce. It is our hope this partnership will help reduce the cost for participating vendors, allowing you to create amazing tacos. We are working with Foodlink Waterloo Region to develop these local relationships, but if you already have a partner in mind, please let us know and we can support you if you’d rather speak with them directly.
Your participation will be promoted though our official Media Sponsors Waterloo Region Record, Dave FM and The Beat, as well as through earned media. You will also be featured in printed event materials, incorporated into the event’s social media strategy, be featured in a blog post on the event website, wrtacofest.wordpress.com.
What would Tacofest be without a prize for the top taco? We will have a panel of esteemed judges present to taste your creations, as well as a People’s Choice Award attendees can vote on. Winners will take home The Golden Taco, an award you can use to show your customers both your community mindedness and taco prowess.
Tacofest is a fundraiser for Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More, a local charity who enables seniors and adults with disabilities in Waterloo Region to live in their own homes. Making sure our clients are able to live as long as possible in their own homes is not only what they want, but it takes pressure off of local hospitals and long term care facilities as well.
Foodlink Waterloo Region has assisted CSC with their Tacofest event by facilitating connections with local farmers and food producers. Foodlink is a non-profit organization that promotes local food, supports and connects farms and good businesses, provides local food education and outreach in our community, and engages decision makers in putting local food policy on the community’s agenda.
If you would like to participate, or have any questions about the event, please contact Matthew at 519-772-8787 x224 or by email at matthewt@communitysupportconnections.org.
