The people of Waterloo Region have spoken. Tacos and craft beer are indeed, awesome.
We are proud to announce that the second annual Waterloo Region Tacofest presented by MTE has raised over $20,000 for Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More. July 4th, 2014 was full of amazing food and brew but there can be only one winner of our taco trophies. Congratulations The Bauer Kitchen, winner for The Golden Taco and The People’s Taco! Congratulations as well to Imbibe Food/Drink, winner of The Vegetarian Victor.
Last year, when the event raised $17,000 for Meals on Wheels, we knew we were onto something big. This year, after tickets sold out online in less than three minutes, we knew Tacofest no longer belonged to just us. Tacofest is made possible by the amazing support of people and businesses here in Waterloo Region. We want to take this opportunity to say thank you.
Hey sponsors, you’re awesome. Our BFFs at MTE Consultants Inc. have been huge supporters of Tacofest, our other events, and of Meals on Wheels for years. We are proud to call them both our Presenting Sponsor and our friend.
Our Green Sponsor once again this year was Imbibe Food/Drink. Not only do we love this place to relax, meet and have some eats and drinks, but their owner Bill has been instrumental in Tacofest’s success since the beginning.
New this year was our Entertainment Sponsor, Your Neighbourhood Credit Union. They brought us the sweet beats of Cazu Latin Band. We were also super impressed with their judge Tara who managed to try all 10 Tacos! Someone had been Taco Training!
Thanks also to Platinum Sponsor, Eyelight Creative Marketing for joining us! You guys do great work, we are especially impressed with what you have done with our beer vendor Innocente!
We have so many supporters. Thanks Im@Events for rocking social media as our Digital Sponsor. Thanks Sylvia Pond Photography for capturing our night with your sweet camera skillz. Thanks Bingemans for keeping our vendors supplied with ice, so very… cool of you. Thanks Bre Creative for painting faces and making everyone have awesome staches. Give it up for My IT Guy and Dawn Smith who keep this website up and running. We loved having The Dandy Team and Picture This App at the event courtesy of Momentum Developments. Finally thank you The Waterloo Region Record for giving us space in your paper to showcase our awesome sponsors and vendors.
Our vendors! We call them The Tacofest 20. Our vendors donate 100% of their food, beer and good times to Tacofest. The best way you can help us say thank you is to visit them and support their businesses. This summer try visiting The Tacofest 20!
Thank you Taco Vendors:
Crabby Joe’s Downtown Kitchener
Thank you Beer Vendors:
Our Tacofest volunteers are also amazing. I may be biased as our team this year was made up of about 50% my family members, but Tacofest wouldn’t be possible without you. You all worked so hard and were so helpful. From setup to teardown you nailed it.
Finally thank you to everyone who came out to drink beer and eat tacos in support of charity. We hope you had a good time and enjoyed the experience. We are always looking to better our events, so if you have any feedback please feel free to email me directly. We would love to hear from you. Special shout out to the Kitchener Waterloo Craft Beer Club and Rare Republic for their support, check them out for local news and events!
Thank you Waterloo Region for making Tacofest 2014 a success!
Cheers to a summer full of local food, craft beer and good times,
Matthew Trushinski
