We are proud to announce that the third annual Waterloo Region Tacofest presented by MTE has raised over $29,000 for Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More (CSC).

With the event raising just over $20,000 last year, you can imagine how blown away we are by the overwhelming support we had this year. Since the inception of Tacofest in 2013, the event has raised $66,000 for Meals on Wheels. Now that’s a reason to celebrate.

And we did just that on Friday July 3rd! The tacos were tasty, the brews were smooth and the three floors of THEMUSEUM were packed with giddy Tacofesters. Not to mention we had some smiling vendors who walked away with the big awards of the night. Congratulations Taco Farm, winner of The Golden Taco, Public Kitchen & Bar, winner of The People’s Taco, and Wildcraft, winner of The Vegetarian Victor.

And for the first time ever, our judges awarded the Best Brew to Lake of Bays Brewing for their 10 point IPA tequila edition!

Our Presenting Sponsor MTE Consultants Inc. continues to be a huge supporter of Meals on Wheels through their event sponsorships and team meal deliveries to our clients.

New this year was our Photobooth Sponsor, eSentire, who brought us Flashpoint Photobooth allowing Tacofesters to take away snapshots of the night for memories all year long.

Our Green Sponsor The Boathouse provided the reusable glassware for beer sampling while our Entertainment Sponsor, Your Neighbourhood Credit Union, brought us local group Safe As Houses.

Do you ever wonder who’s behind the camera capturing the night so perfectly? Thanks Sylvia Pond Photography for coming out again this year as Tacofest’s Official Photographer. We’re always sad when the night ends but your shots keep us pumped up throughout the year.

Thanks Im@Events for your social media savvy as our Digital Media Sponsor. We even had random patrons tell us our social media was bang on. Thanks to our Ice Sponsor Bingemans and Bre Creative for painting faces…and arms. Thanks My IT Guy and Dawn who keep this website up and running. Thank you The Waterloo Region Record for allowing us to spread the word about our awesome sponsors and vendors.

Our local vendors are incredible. For the first time, we were able to use the third floor of THEMUSEUM allowing us to invite four additional vendors to the mix and about 90 more patrons. They donate 100% of their food and beer to Tacofest allowing all of dollars raised to go directly to Meals on Wheels. Our friends at Gastropub No. 29 couldn’t make it to the event this year so we want to give them a shout out. We missed you! And thank you to Nick from Taco Farm who stepped in to make sure the taco shortage didn’t put too much of a strain on our other restaurants by organizing a nacho and salsa bar hours before the event.

A big thanks to each of you for making Tacofest such a hit.
