Friday June 24th promised three thing: tacos, craft beer and cider, and good times. We are proud to announce that this year’s fourth annual Waterloo Region Tacofest presented by MTE has raised $36,500 for Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More (CSC) Meal Subsidy Program. This is enough to offset the cost of over 9,000 meals for low incomes seniors and adults with disabilities. We continue to be blown away by our community support! Since the inception of Tacofest in 2013, the event has raised $102,500 for Meals on Wheels.13483375_1239246732753247_5732560501385022328_o

Congratulations to Gilt Restaurant and Lounge who were awarded the Golden Taco Trophy and to Taco Farm, winner of the People’s Choice Trophy. Taking home the Vegetarian Victor Trophy for the second year in a row was Wildcraft! And last, but definitely not least is Four Fathers Brewing, first time participants who took away the Best Brew Trophy. Congratulations to all of our winners!

We wouldn’t be able to make Tacofest as great as it is, without all of our community support! Thank you to our returning Presenting Sponsor, MTE Consultants Inc. MTE is a long-time supporter of Meals on Wheels through event sponsorships and our adopt-a-route program.

For the first time, we welcomed our Transportation Sponsor, Heffner Toyota. They proved to be an essential part of Tacofest as our safe rides home filled up very quickly. Thanks for helping to get our Tacofesters home safely in the “Tacomobile.”

Our Green Sponsor, Your Neighbourhood Credit Union made sure our guests wouldn’t get thirsty by providing our stylish, reusable glassware and helping to keep Tacofest an environmentally friendly event.

Awakening the Tacofest vibe, was our Entertainment Sponsor Sandvine, bringing the nine piece mariachi band Cazu to the event.

For the first time, we were able to use all four floors at THEMUSEUM, so you can understand it might have been difficult to navigate without the help of our Print Sponsor, Westmount Signs who provided all the fancy signage at Tacofest.

How would our community know about Tacofest, if it wasn’t for the help of our Media Sponsors? Thank you to The Waterloo Region Record, CTV Kitchener, KOOL 105.3 and KFUN 99.5 for helping us get the word out about Tacofest in support of Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More!

We all know Tacofest is a fun filled event, but helping us to keep Tacofest cool, is our Ice Sponsor, Bingemans who supplies all of the ice, keeping those tasty bevy’s ice cold!

Thank you to Bre Creative who provided the fantastic face painting and arms…and heads. We always have some really great pictures from the event, capturing what Tacofest is all about, thanks to the very talented Sylvia Pond. And helping us to share all of the fantastic work that our supporters provide us with is My IT GUY, who help to keep our Tacofest website up and running so that we can also share with you how fantastic Tacofest really is, thanks to so much of our community support!

Tacofest would absolutely not be possible without all of our amazing vendors! We must give a very big thank you to all of our 16 vendors and 16 craft beer and cider vendors who donate 100% of their food and beverages, allowing all the proceeds raised to go towards CSC.

Tacofest went off without a hitch, thanks to our hard working volunteers, who climbed four flights of stairs, helping to ensure the event ran smoothly.

Thank you Saibal Chakranurtty, Matthew Trushinski, Megan VanderWoude, Jesse Ariss, Scott Thomson, Mike Brown, Ryan Ward, Bill McTavish and Alex Kinsella. A big thank you to each and every one of you for helping to make Tacofest such a success!
