Friday June 22nd promised three things: tacos, craft brews, and good times. We’re stoked to say that the 6th Waterloo Region Tacofest did just that, raising $52,000 for the clients of Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More (CSC). Since 2013, the event has raised over $190,000 for Meals on Wheels!
Congratulations to Proof Kitchen + Lounge who was awarded the Golden Taco, The Rich Uncle Tavern for snagging the People’s Taco, and newcomer Cafe Pyrus proudly took home the Vegetarian Victor. The Best Brew went to North Works Brewing Co. and our snazzy new People’s Brew was awarded to KW Craft Cider.
We love the love each of you give to our annual fiesta each year, but it wouldn’t be possible without the support of our sponsors. Please join us in thanking them for their generosity and spreading love across our region, helping CSC fulfill its mission of helping people live at home with independence and dignity.
For the third year in a row, we welcomed our Transportation Sponsor, Heffner Toyota, whose support ensured Tacofesters had a safe ride home. Also back for a third year, our Green Sponsor Your Neighbourhood Credit Union provided reusable glassware to up our environmentally friendliness factor. Entertainment Sponsor Brick and Co. Restorations Ltd. brought Loops N Jamzz DJs which had Tacofesters on their feet all night long. (That conga line is going down in the Tacofest history books!)
Thanks to our Photobooth Sponsor eSentire, we’ve got filmstrip memories to get us through until next year. And a big thanks to our Print Sponsor, Westmount Signs who provided all the signage at Tacofest. We also want to give a shout out to Platinum Sponsor Fibernetics and Gold Sponsors MTE Consultants and Veriform.
Thank you to The Waterloo Region Record, DAVE Rocks and 91.5 The Beat for helping us get the word out about Tacofest and CSC! A shout out to Dave Rocks who was onsite and gave away Foo Fighter tickets to one lucky attendee!
Your brews were kept cool thanks to our Ice Sponsor, Bingemans and your faces (and arms, heads, and anywhere else) were covered with fiesta flair thanks to Bre Creative.
We are grateful to the talented Sylvia Pond Photography who comes year after year to capture amazing shots of the night. She’s already sent a sneak peek of them, check it out!
We’re not tech savvy but thankfully we’ve got My IT GUY, who keeps our Tacofest website up and running.
Last but certainly not least, thanks to our 16 taco vendors and 16 craft brewers who donate 100% of their food and beverages, allowing all the proceeds raised to go towards CSC.
