On Friday June 7th, we committed to delivering the following: thirst quenching brews, delicious tacos, and a darn tootin’ good time. We’re pumped to say that the 7th annual Waterloo Region Tacofest did just that, raising over $52,000 for the clients of Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More (CSC). Since 2013, the event has raised over $242,000 for Meals on Wheels, and that is a HUGE deal thanks to our supporters like you!

Congratulations to Gilt Restaurant and Lounge who not only took home The Golden Taco for their octopus taco, but they were also awarded The People’s Choice Trophy. Once again, like a true veteran, Cafe Pyrus proudly took home the Vegetarian Victor. The Best Brew went to newcomer Von Bugle Brewery and our People’s Brew was awarded to Jackass Brewing, also a newcomer. In the brew department, the newbies really cleaned up!

Alongside you, our lovely Tacofesters, this event would not be possible without the support of our Sponsors.

For the fourth year in a row, we welcomed our Transportation Sponsor, Heffner Toyota, whose support ensured Tacofesters had a safe ride home. Making their first appearance this year, our Green Sponsor Freedom 55 Financial provided reusable glassware. Entertainment Sponsor Brick and Co. Restorations Ltd. brought back Loops N Jamzz DJs which had Tacofesters on their feet all night long.

A special thanks to our new Tent Sponsor Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada for providing our Toyota Tacofest Good Times Tent. Though we were finally prepared for rain, we were so happy that instead of keeping the rain away, these tents provided us with some shade. We also want to give a shout out to Platinum Sponsor MTE Consultants, Gold Sponsors Veriform and Lanark Village, Silver Sponsor Josslin Insurance and Bronze Sponsor Get It While It’s Hot. Thanks as well to our Print Sponsor, Westmount Signs who provided all the signage at Tacofest.

Thank you to The Waterloo Region RecordDAVE Rocks and 91.5 The Beat for helping us get the word out about Tacofest and CSC!

Your brews were kept cool thanks to our Ice Sponsor, Bingemans and your faces (and arms, heads, and anywhere else) were covered with fiesta flair thanks to Bre Creative.

We are grateful to the talented Sylvia Pond Photography who comes year after year to capture amazing shots of the night.

We’re not tech savvy but thankfully we’ve got My IT GUY, who keeps our Tacofest website up and running.

Spearhead Barber & Supply were out again this year with all proceeds from their haircuts and beard trims going to CSC!

Last but certainly not least, thanks to our 16 taco vendors and 16 craft brewers who donate 100% of their food and beverages, allowing all the proceeds raised to go towards CSC. You guys are the bread and butter of our event and we are over the moon for your constant support. Tacofesters, please go out this summer for a bite and a pint and visit our generous friends.

On the night of, we need an army of volunteers to help with event logistics and in the hot, hot, heat, a huge group from WalterFedy helped with outdoor setup. We seriously couldn’t have done it without you.

And finally, thank you so much to our sweet and generous Tacofest Committee who put in several hours helping to plan Tacofest and making it such a great event. Thank you Saibal Chakraburtty, Scott Thomson, Mike Brown, Alex Kinsella, and newcomer Sylvia Pond!

Once again, thanks to everyone who came out in support of CSC, a local organization who works with hundreds of volunteers to serve over 7,500 seniors and adults with disabilities in our community. If you are interested in volunteering or making a donation to help people live in their own homes independently, please check out their website. To receive updates about Tacofest and all the amazing events happening throughout the year at CSC, click here to sign up for their monthly e-newsletter.

We’ll be sending out a survey soon via our social media channels, but if you would like to share feedback on your experience at Tacofest, please feel free to contact Andrea Mondoux at andream@cscmow.org

Until next year…

Sincerely yours,

Team Taco
